EKU: The Veer Union
This past Thursday, April 23, was the spring concert for Eastern Kentucky University at Brock Auditorium. The first band to take the stage, The Veer Union, is a rock band from Vancouver, BC. I was only expected three bands to be playing that night, so being able to shoot The Veer Union was a pleasant surprise.

For the first band up, they definitely had amazing stage presence. It seems like too many openers don’t know how to handle themselves on stage and it makes for a slightly awkward show for them and the audience. Having a strong presence can really get the crowd involved and definitely sell your group better. The lighting was interesting to say the least. It was fairly static for each song, but did change colors. There were a lot of intense colors that consumed the stage, such as a deep red and cool blue that made the shooting challenging at times, but paid off in some ways. Below are five photos I took from the show.

You can view all the photos from The Veer Union on my Flickr in the set called The Veer Unit, which is located under the EKU Spring Concert collection. There are a lot of extreme colors due to the intense lighting, but I am definitely pleased with how the monochromatic photos turned out.
On closing, I have to say that The Veer Union put on an amazing show. Not only was it a pleasure to shoot, but they really knew how to engage the audience. If you would like to learn more about The Veer Union then drop by their site at TheVeerUnion.com.
