Model Shoot: Stefany
Last Friday, while down in Florida for a charity fundraiser event, some of the other attendees and myself booked a couple photoshoots with some local models. On Friday, June 5, we met up with Stefany Renay at a local breakfast joint called the Blue Lemon Cafe. After a nice breakfast we all went back to our hotel room, where Sarah McCarthy, our makeup artist for both shoots, did her makeup.

Stefany changed, and we all headed down to the beach for the first leg of the shoot, swimsuit photos. I was joined by Matt Crim and Michael Cardwell, good friends of mine and the other photographers for the shoot. We took turns assisting each other by being lighting grips or brainstorming about angles and locations.

We took a variety of shots on the beach near the hotel using the dunes, beach and sand as backdrops. After we were done with photos of Stefany standing, we had her lay down in the sand near the water’s edge and took some photos there. Below are some select photos from the first section of the shoot on the beach. Clicking them will take you to their photo page on Flickr. After a quick change, we began the second leg of the shoot. Stefany changed into a summer dress, and we used the rich and lush plants growing on the dunes as the backdrop. The natural light was more limited than it was on the beach, since it wasn’t reflecting off the sand and water. That allowed for us to really control the lighting with our flashes.

The wind also picked up quite a bit which turned into a blessing and a curse. It allowed for some well timed shots with Stefany’s hair gently blowing in the wind. It also got a little out of hand and kept our makeup artist on her feet, constantly having to fix Stefany’s hair. She did an amazing job though and the photos turned out great. Below are some of my photos from that part of the shoot. As with the others, you can click them to visit their photo page on Flickr. To view the full set on Flickr, you can click here.

The shoot closed with farewells and sunburns all around. My thanks goes out to Stefany for being willing to work with us on such sort notice, doing an amazing job modeling, and for being a lot of fun to shoot with and talk to. Also, thanks to Matt Crim and Michael Cardwell for various tips and being great light grips. Lastly, thanks to Sarah McCarthy for doing an amazing job with the makeup, and despite the wind, water, and sand, making sure that everything looked perfect.
