Rush pulled out all the stops in Louisville this past Tues with an elaborate stage and excellent lighting that’s sure to make any concert photographer swoon. Their tour, appropriated named the Time Machine Tour, incorporated all kinds of funky set pieces and a decked out drum kit for Neil Peart.
In an unfortunate age of soundboard shoots and wild photo releases, Rush offered an escape. Not only did they not have a photo release, but they allowed photogs to shoot the first three songs from the pit. Plus, since they were Rush songs, those three songs went a long way and ended up being over twenty minutes. The production of the stage was great, and the lighting seemed to follow the same code of awesome. I hadn’t seen arena lighting that amazing since shooting Taylor Swift last year. I stuck with my 17-55mm for all three songs, which tends to be my go-to lens for most shoots from the pit.
